Dorothy Parker unkindly dismissed Los Angeles as being '72 suburbs in search of a city'.

I have always loved the city, and spent many months in its suburbs filming Grand Theft Parsons with Johnny Knoxville, Michael Shannon and Christina Applegate. The Golden Globes last month fired the starting gun for the annual awards season, culminating in the Oscars on February 24.

The Oscars take place at the Dolby Theatre in downtown Hollywood, while the annual Golden Globes ceremony has been held at the Beverly Hilton since 1962.

The Globes has been hosted three times by the acerbic Ricky Gervais, who described the evening as 'a night of partying and heavy drinking - or as Charlie Sheen calls it, breakfast'.
