Theresa May hinted Sir Philip Green could lose his knighthood today after a former minister accused the tycoon of bringing the honours system 'into disrepute'.

The Prime Minister said it was right honours could be reviewed where a recipient is proved to have behaved wrongly.

Amid mounting pressure on Sir Philip, a spokesman for Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn backed stripping the knighthood if the claims are proven.

Sir Philip is accused of groping a female executive and making a racial slur at an employee after an investigation by the Daily Telegraph. He tried to stop the newspaper reporting on Non Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) signed by the alleged victims.

The new scandal comes after the collapse of BHS in which the retail billionaire was also strongly criticised.

Sir Philip strenuously denies all of the allegation against him.
