A two-year-old girl was found sleeping and unharmed in a car next to her dead father's body after he was shot in the head in Texas.

The toddler and her father were discovered in a parking lot outside an apartment complex in northwest Harris County at around 11.50pm on Thursday night.

Harris - County - Sheriff - Office - Area

Harris County Sheriff's Office had been called to the area after a neighbor reported hearing gunshots outside.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, had been shot in the head and was found next to a car in the parking lot.
