Sir Paul McCartney says he's finally 'made it' as he is honoured with a Gold Blue Peter badge

He is one of the most legendary musicians of all time, founder member of iconic band The Beatles, has sold more than 800m records and won 18 Grammy awards and an Oscar.

And after nearly six decades in the music industry, Sir Paul McCartney said he'd finally 'made it' as he was honoured with a Gold Blue Peter Badge.

Hey - Jude - Hitmaker - Accessory - Performance

The Hey Jude hitmaker, 76, received the glittering accessory before his performance at London's The O2 in December, with the presentation to be aired on Thursday's episode of the children's show.

The extraordinary musician, who was chosen to receive the badge for inspiring generations of people, said: 'That is beautiful, that's a great badge. I will wear it with great pride. Yes! I made it!'

Chat - Show - Yesterday - Hitmaker - Advice

During a candid chat on the show, the Yesterday hitmaker offered advice to aspiring young musicians on how to write hit songs, although he admitted he still 'doesn't know' what to do.

He told presenter Lindsey Russell: 'The only advice really is to do it... a lot.

'I - Class - Thing - Look - Kind

'I have a song-writing class and the first thing I say to them is, look, I don't really know how to do this - and at first they kind of look at me, but when you think about it there is no formula.

'I know how to write one of my songs but I can't say 'you do it that way', because it's a very personal thing. So the advice really is to just do whatever it is you're doing... a lot!'
