Body found in search for missing 29-year-old mother

Detectives investigating the disappearance of a woman have found a body.

Margaret Jean Smythe, known as 'Maggie', was last seen at her home in, Breightmet, Bolton last weekend.

Body - Derelict - Red - Bridge - Inn

A body was recovered behind the derelict Red Bridge Inn, near Red Lane, about half a mile from her home.

The discovery came after a massive search which included police divers checking Blackshaw Brook Lodge near the pub.

Ms - Smythe - Cleaner - Bolton - Bus

Ms Smythe, who worked as a cleaner at Bolton bus station, has a daughter, aged three.

Formal identification is yet to take place, but her family have been informed of the discovery.

Ms - Smythe - Saturday - January - Home

Ms Smythe, 29, was last seen on Saturday January 26 at her home on Swinside Road, Breightmet.

On Wednesday January 30, officers investigating her disappearance arrested two men aged 35 and 39 on suspicion of murder. The 39-year-old man remains in custody, and the 35-year-old man has since been released with no further action.
