With showrunners and actors (and then showrunners again) leaping over the side of the Viking ship and delays pushing production back, it’s been a long, bumpy road for American Gods season 2. But the premiere is finally right around the corner, and a new, two-minute-long trailer reveals that any of the behind-the-scenes hullabaloo hasn’t stopped Starz’s battle-of-the-deities drama from being one of the most dazzling series on TV.

Season 2 will pick up where season 1 left off, with Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) diving headfirst into Mr. Wednesday’s (Ian McShane) brewing conflict between the gods of the olden days and the new, tech-focused gods we worship with our screens and credit cards. Crispin Glover will return in all his scarecrow-lookin’ glory as Mr. World, while Sakina Jaffrey (House of Cards) joins the cast as Hindu-goddess-turned-waitress Mama-ji along with fellow newcomer Dean Winters (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) as Mr. Town.
