If The Crimes of Grindelwald had you hungry for more magical adventures ASAP, it looks like you might have to wait just a bit longer for the next chapter. Deadline reports that Warner Bros. is pushing back the start of production on the third Fantastic Beasts film, which originally set to start filming in July of this year. Now, the production is eyeing late Autumn to get in front of cameras, for one very simple reason… the film needs more prep time. Fair enough.
According to the report, the production team needs more time to deliver the followup to Crimes of Grindelwald, which earned $648.8 million worldwide in its 2018 theatrical run. The film would need to be in soft prep to get in front of cameras this summer, and while we’ve seen Warners rush the pre-production on event films to meet release dates (long hard stare at Suicide Squad), Deadline notes that Warner executives are embracing a new approach and giving big productions the time they need to percolate.
