Arizona man carrying handgun in waistband shoots himself in the groin in Walmart meat department

A man from Arizona is in hospital after shooting himself in the groin while browsing the shelves at a Walmart.

The shooting appears to have been accidental while the weapon was tucked inside the man's waistband.

Superstore - Buckeye - Maricopa - County

It happened at the superstore in Buckeye, Maricopa County.

Local police tweeted that they were working on what appeared to be a 'self-inflicted accidental shooting' inside the Watson and Yuma Walmart.

'An adult male accidentally shot himself in the groin area inside the Walmart Watson & Yuma and is being transported to hospital. There are no other injuries,' Buckeye PD tweeted.

The incident occurred around 6:30pm on Tuesday when semiautomatic handgun, which was not in a holster, began to slip.
