A Florida man has been arrested after police said he manufactured the homemade explosive dubbed 'Mother of Satan'.

Jared E. Coburn, 37, was arrested on Tuesday in Lake Helen, Florida, after police responded to an anonymous tip about a bomb 'under the bed' in the home he shared with his cousin and the cousin's daughter.

Investigators cleared the area and called in the bomb squad when they found two jars, two vials and one baggie of the highly volatile explosive triacetone triperoxide (TATP).

Coburn's motives and plans, if he had any, remain unclear. Police said they believe he worked 'packing parachutes'.

TATP - Household - Chemicals - Manchester - Arena

TATP, made from common household chemicals, was used in the deadly Manchester Arena bombing in the UK last year, the 2015 Paris attacks, and by the shoe bomber Richard Reid.

'Unfortunately what were learning is that this chemical is becoming more and more profound in America, because you can pull up a video online and make this stuff,' Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said at a Tuesday press briefing.

TATP - Maims - Reason - Islamic - Mother

Though it is relatively easy to make, TATP is extremely volatile and often kills or maims those who are trying to manufacture it - the main reason why Islamic militants call it 'the Mother of Satan'.

On Tuesday afternoon, police acting on a tip responded to the home where Coburn rents a room from his cousin, a single-story stucco home in the community 30 miles northeast of Orlando.

Lake Helen police saw suspicious devices and immediately backed out of the home, setting up a perimeter and calling in the sheriff's bomb squad.

A judge signed a search warrant and a search of the house for additional explosives followed.
