An 'always healthy' Florida teenager who called her mother to complain of a sore throat and headache Monday was shockingly found unresponsive the following day.
Jessie Lauren Melcolm's mother asked a friend to check in on the 19-year-old Tallahassee Community College freshman Tuesday at her apartment after she received no response from her that morning.

However the Tallahassee Community College student - a former cheerleading captain - didn't respond to her wakeup call and was taken to hospital.
Melcom, a Jacksonville native who was known for being supportive and positive, later passed away.

Family and friends remain baffled about what happened to the fit young lady who graduated from Bartram Trail High School in May.
Melcom stayed active and as well as being a cheerleader at her high school, she competed at state level in gymnastics at Jacksonville Academy of Gymnastics.
