Two deputies and six inmates injured after Texas prison transportation van crashed and caught fire

This is the horrifying moment two Texas law enforcement deputies and six prisoners escaped an inferno after the vehicle transporting them was hit in a collision and burst into flames.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office confirmed the incident happened Monday morning at the cross-section of Jackson Street and Commerce Street in downtown Houston when a pickup truck reportedly ran a red light.

Witnesses said it collided with the side of the prisoner transportation van outside the Minute Maid Park where the Houston Astros baseball team plays.

Inmates and officers managed to escape the van before noon when it lit on fire and completely burned out the vehicle.
