National Catholic Reporter and Fordham University’s Center for Religion and Culture will co-host a briefing for journalists on the clergy sex abuse crisis in advance of the fall meeting of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in Baltimore. The briefing brings together NCR reporters and experts on clergy sex abuse, and will be particularly beneficial for journalists who do not normally cover bishops’ meetings.
David Gibson, longtime journalist and Director of the Center for Religion and Culture at Fordham University, will moderate the panel. “NCR began reporting on the clergy sex abuse crisis in 1984,” said Gibson. “I am delighted to work with them on helping reporters who are new to this beat understand the often opaque processes of the Catholic Church.”
