How late platform announcements are forcing train passengers to sprint to reach their trains

Train watchdogs have accused rail companies of inconveniencing passengers by leaving platform announcements too late causing people to miss the service.

Customers have complained that some announcements are made with as little as three-and-a-half minutes before the platform is closed to ready the train for departure.

Trains arriving late into the station reduce the turnaround time to clean and restock the carriages.

According to The Times, Anthony Smith of Transport Focus said Network Rail and the train companies need to work together to provide a better service....
