Terrifying dashcam footage from a car driving behind a California bus that crashed and injured 40 people on board has been released, showing the moment the vehicle spiraled wildly out of control.
The devastating crash took place on Sunday afternoon along the San Diego 405 Freeway just after 1pm, critically injuring five people on board.

The dashcam video shows the long white bus traveling north suddenly swerve into a lane to its right then take a wide left turn. As it turns the bus loses control and rockets across the three lanes to its left, cutting in front of cars until it slams into a concrete median in a puff of smoke.
The bus crosses the median and ends up in the southbound lanes of oncoming traffic. The bus bounces from the impact and finally falls to a halt.

The driver 60-year-old Ophelia Rodriguez she tried to avoid a truck that slammed on its breaks and in the process lost control of the bus, according to Fox.
'There was a theory circulating that this might be a road rage incident, we're not going in that direction at this point, it's too early,' California Highway Patrol Officer Leland Tang said to Fox.
