Lady Gaga Says ‘Bold Action’ For Suicide Prevention Is ‘Desperately Needed’

Lady Gaga is shedding light on the stigma around suicide and mental health.

The “A Star is Born” actress teamed up with the World Health Organization’s director-general Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to pen an op-ed for The Guardian.

“By the time you finish reading this, at least six people will have killed themselves around the world,” the op-ed begins. That translates to 800,000 deaths by suicide annually.

“Suicide is the most extreme and visible symptom of the larger mental health emergency we are so far failing to adequately address,” they continue. “Stigma, fear and lack of understanding compound the suffering...
