Pampers removes Sesame Street characters from diapers

Pampers has removed all traces of Sesame Street from its diapers supposedly because some parents had complained the characters were too masculine.

The company has recently replaced the likes of Elmo, Big Bird and the Cookie Monster with generic animals and shapes.

Confused parents started contacting Pampers last month asking if the diapers they had bought were legitimate given the Sesame Street characters were no longer visible.

One New York mother, Susie Wong-Benjamin, said she called to ask about the new designs last week and a customer service representative blamed it partly on gender issues.

'The Pampers rep said... parents who have daughters thought that the Sesame Street characters are too masculine,' she told the New York Post.

Pampers, however, simply said they were updating to the new designs based on parents feedback.
