Heartless owners of a six-week-old puppy handed the animal over to police just hours after buying him online.

Police stopped a car in the early hours of the morning and the couple said they had only just bought the Jack Russell on website Gumtree but wanted rid of him.

On patrol in Surrey, the officers took 'Little Buddy' to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in Windsor, Berkshire.

Buddy has now found new owners who really do want him and will be going to live with them in the next few days.
