Meet the adorable sausage dog who thinks he's a kangaroo.

Hilarious footage of the curious dog trying to copy the Australian marsupial while watching them in action has gone viral worldwide.

Posted on YouTube on Wednesday, the 33 second clip captures the very cute King Kingsley proudly standing up on his hind legs and watching a mob of roos bound past his home on the Gold Coast in Queensland.

But when the two-year-old wanders off to hopefully make some new friends, the startled kangaroos disperse and bound off into the distance.

'He might have a bouncy personality, but this Insta-famous sausage dog has yet to learn that he is not in fact a kangaroo,' the YouTube description states.

King Kingsley's owner Emma Hill, 25, told Caters her curious canine often chases after the marsupials.

'This - Time - Kangaroo - Ms - Hill

'This is the first time I have seen him try to imitate a kangaroo,' Ms Hill said.
