Lebanese mayor orders police women to wear black mini-shorts

From giant sculptures to niche museums and souvenir shops, small towns and cities the world over have resorted to often bizarre methods of attracting tourists.

But one town in Lebanon has perhaps come up with the weirdest idea after dressing all of its female traffic police in short shorts.

Pierre - Achkar - Mayor - Town - Brummana

Pierre Achkar, mayor of the town of Brummana, around 10 miles outside Beirut, said the new rules are designed to attract more western tourists.

Speaking to RT, he said: 'We in Lebanon want to change the bleak picture of Lebanon in the West.

Percent - Tourists - Mediterranean - Region - Wear

'Ninety-nine percent of the tourists in the Mediterranean region wear shorts,' he added.

However, his plans have come under attack from both sides...
