A southwestern Missouri woman is going to prison after pleading guilty in the death of her autistic son, though she still maintains her innocence.
Kimberly Lightwine, 43, of Aldrich, Missouri, wore a t-shirt reading 'Kimberly is Innocent' at her sentencing Friday, KYTV reported.
Part - Plea - Deal - Lightwine - Manslaughter
As part of a plea deal, Lightwine pleaded guilty to first-degree involuntary manslaughter and second-degree elder abuse in May, in the death of her 19-year-old autistic son, Austin Anderson, who was found dead in a field while wearing only a soiled diaper in August 2016.
Lightwine was also found, lying face-down and in her underwear, in the field near her son's body. She had a broken leg and jaw.
Anderson - Brain - Dehydration - Shock - Medication
Anderson had a swollen brain from dehydration and possibly went into shock without his medication. Authorities believed that he may have died as many as three days before being found.
Prior to her plea deal, Lightwine had been charged with felony second-degree elder abuse and felony second-degree murder.

In court Friday for her sentencing hearing, Lightwine reportedly asked for her attorney to leave the room and then told the judge that she believed her legal representation had not been adequate in recent months.
