Glenda Jackson reveals she turned down Dame Judi Dench's role in James Bond because it was 'boring'

She is an acclaimed actress, winner of two Oscars and former Labour MP.

And while Glenda Jackson has become a legend in the world of film, television and theatre, she has revealed there was one iconic role that didn't quite take her fancy, in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Women - Love - Star - Dame - Judi

The 82-year-old Women In Love star admitted that she turned down Dame Judi Dench's role as steely spymaster M in the James Bond franchise 'because it was boring.'

Dame Judi, 83, who has become a national treasure thanks to her roles films including Shakespeare In Love and A Room With A View first appeared as M in the 1994 film James Bond and quickly became one of the film series' favourite characters before she was killed off in 2012's Skyfall.
