Intense thunderstorm sweeps across east coast, putting on a light show in DC and sending down hail the size of golf balls

Residents on the East Coast got quite the lightning show Saturday night after a severe thunderstorm swept through the area.

The National Weather Service had issued thunderstorm watches and warnings for many areas in DC, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, the Ohio Valley and the mid-Atlantic.

Most of the severe weather warnings were lifted late Saturday night as the storms passed through the areas. The National Weather Service tweeted that a warning remains in effect for Pocomoke City, Maryland until 1.15am EST.

Residents in that area can expect wind gusts up to 60mph and possible half-dollar sized hail.
