A mother-of-two died and her five-year-old son was injured after a 'drunk driver' ploughed into them on a pedestrian crossing.
Shantelle Kirkup, from Northallerton in North Yorkshire, was struck by a Ford Focus as she made her way across the road in Darlington.

Mrs Kirkup, 29, was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough by air ambulance, but died from her injuries a few hours later.
The 36-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs, before being released under investigation.

Mrs Kirkup's five-year-old son also sustained significant injuries in the collision but remains in a stable condition in hospital.
The tragedy happened around 3.40pm on Sunday, May 6 on the northbound carriageway of St Cuthbert's Way in Darlington.
