Most people do not know that the word “Orthodox” can have two meanings. On the one hand, it can mean “right teaching” or “belief.” On the other hand, it can mean right “worship” (right “glory”). Those two meanings are always present, if you are thinking with the Greek term in mind. However, when it came time to render the word into Slavonic, a decision had to be made. And that decision tells us much about how the term was understood by the saints who made it. In Slavonic, the term is Pravoslavnie, unambiguously, right “worship.”
