Swedish bioprinting company Cellink and Prellis Biologics Inc., a San Francisco-based 3D tissue printing company have partnered to commercialize high-resolution holographic bioprinting technology for micro-printing.
The partners will collaborate to develop and commercialize the CELLINK Holograph-X Bioprinter – powered by Prellis Biologics and will have a retail price of approximately $1.2 million. According to CELLINK, the Holograph-X Bioprinter system will enable the first-ever bioprinting of pre-vascularized tissue structures demonstrated to support tissue growth 10x larger than standard spheroid cultures. In addition, the system works with any CAD file developed by researchers to match their own goals for organ and organoid tissue culture.

The Holograph-X Bioprinter will integrate Prellis Biologic’s proprietary ultra-fast, multi-photon laser-based bioprinting technology for ultra-high resolution bioprinting of microstructures such as vascular networks or capillaries. Prellis' holographic printing technology uses the same principle behind laser scanning print methods, but instead applies a specialized optical wave-front shaping technology to project and print several hundred thousand voxels simultaneously, in the x, y, and z planes.
